Based on the voice engine of Nuance, NNG has developed a new voice-recognition technology, which is already available for OEM manufacturers. The newest function of the iGO primo recognises addresses communicated by the user in one long and unbroken sentence, providing increased comfort and better matching results.

Global navigational software developer NNG Kft has presented the new built-in function of the iGO primo software, the one-step voice-based destination-determination system.

Based on the voice engine of Nuance, provider of voice and language solutions, the new destination-determination system further expands the software’s voice-recognition abilities, which represents a huge step forward in the application of voice-control.

This is the first off-board solution which renders it possible to control GPS devices with voice-based commands assigned to menu functions.

The one-step destination-determination process is an improved version of the slower and articulated complex destination-determination function. Before, the users had to follow the instructions of the GPS device, saying the name of the city, the street and the street-number one by one, preferably with long gaps, so that the software could recognise and process the incoming information.

The onboard voice-recognition function can be utilised with navigational devices both with and without data link. With its text-to-speech (TTS) technology based on the Nuance voice synthesiser, the iGO primo reads out the route plan in a natural and pleasant voice, including street names as well.

The software supports Nuance’s language portfolio: it is capable of voice-recognition in 20 languages, while the TTS function is available in 30 languages.
